A three-day “Regional Climate Conference 2023”, was organised by The Earth Society and Observer Research Foundation (ORF) jointly in Dhaka between 8th- 10th September. This event brought together many international organisations, government representatives, and members of civil society.

This event was spearheaded by prominent climate parliamentarians from Bangladesh, including MPs Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Mr Tanvir Shakil Joy, Mr Nahim Razzaq, and Ms Wasiqa Ayesha Khan. It also witnessed active participation from numerous MPs representing South Asian countries, including Dr Sanjay Jaiswal (India), Iran Wickramaratne (Sri Lanka), Gyem Dorji (Bhutan) and Madhav Sapkota (Nepal).

The three-day summit featured four thematic segments: ‘Environment and Climate Change,’ ‘Water and Waste,’ ‘Future of Energy,’ and ‘Regional Cooperation and Regional Climate Fund.’ A total of 120 eminent personalities participated as panellist’s in 4 thematic segments and 19 sessions of the conference. The event, in its declaration, emphasized the need for regional energy cooperation and the establishment of Regional Parliamentary Forum.
